from my totally unscientific poll, mitt romney is a goner.  my part of south carolina is considered "moderate".  well, more moderate that the western part of the state, anyway.  if mitt is depending on my neighbors to deliver a win for him, he's focked.

I predict a big newt win tonight.  and not just because I have been hyping him since before iowa.

mind you, I also though new orleans and green bay would play in the nfc championship game.  so, take it with a grain of salt.

fox news is blathering on about the tea party's influence in SC.  I have news for fox news;  we reject the tea party;  we consider THEM to be corrupt, and part of the establishment.  heh.

for what it's worth, the weather in SC has been dizzly in the coastal region, and raining like hell in the upstate.  it will certainly effect turnout.

the gingrich people are feeling confident.  I just got an email from the speaker of the SC house (he endorsed newt) inviting me to a victory celebration at 8.  no such chutzpah from the romney camp.  (and yes, I am on both of their lists Wink )

fox news is broadcasting from my town, and is just clueless.  and now they are interviewing some professor from the college of charleston, which is hyper liberal, and wandering even further down the path of cluelessness.

another good omen for newt.  although, I do wonder what the 1/3rd that didn't think that the debates mattered were thinking.

Quote
South Carolina primary exit polls: 2/3rds say debates mattered

Nearly two out of three South Carolina Republican primary voters say the recent Republican presidential debates played an important factor in their decision, according to early CBS News exit polls - a good sign for Newt Gingrich, who was widely seen as outshining rival Mitt Romney in both debates there this week.

I'm not trying to flip anyone out, but I don't think that the tea party really exists.  a functioning political party has goals, principles, and objectives independent of standing in opposition to something.  the tea party didn't exist until obama was elected.  if obama is tossed from office, I think the tea party will evaporate -- to the extent that is hasn't already.

now, that isn't to say that is isn't (and wasn't) crucial to the midterms, and will be in november.  I just think it is clearly an amalgamation of opposition movements, libertarians, and associated bubble heads.

debbie wasserman-shultz is on fox news right now, claiming that the collapse of romney is indicative of the "extremists" taking over the republican party.

lol.

she sounds like she is hammered.
