and I don't think it will boil down to a choice of "raise taxes or gut defense".  I think that the administration has made a really bad deal here.  well, bad for them, anyway.

Whatever gets cut will be used as a bludgeon against the GOP. The RINO's sold out.

I really no longer give a crap, I'm almost rooting for a collapse of civilization at this point

There was a TEA (taxed enough already) party congressman from Texas on cspan this morning. The subject of foreign aid as paying people to hate us came up and how they'll hate us for free, we don't have to pay them to hate us. He made a shocking statement, or maybe it shouldn't be shocking, anyway, he said he got a memo on his desk that said if he votes against foreign aid or against the United Nations he wouldn't get any aid for his district.
If this is true, it should outrage every American.

He voted against the debt ceiling bill by the way.

What does he mean by "aid for his district"?  Pork?  Shouldn't he be against pork spending anyway?

Yes he should, and yes he is. The leadership using this to try to blackmail our representatives is what should outrage us. I voted for Southerland to represent me, because  he has, or claimed to have conservative values. I did not vote for him so he could follow the old Party leadership down the same road that got us here.

And, speaking of Pork, I haven't heard any of them talking about cutting the Pork. The first thing a true leader would do is cut their own pay, perks, and benifits as an example. They ask us to sacrifice while they continue their lavish lifestyles.

"they" have been talking about a lot of things;  soaking the rich, "investing in our future", & etc., etc.

talking about it is all "they" can do, because "they" don't have the votes.  it simply won't happen.
