Add Sen. Harry Reid to the list of prominent Democrats who aren’t rushing to Rep. Anthony Weiner’s side.

Asked at his weekly news conference about the Twitter-tarred congressman, Reid replied, “I know Congressman Weiner. I wish there was some way I can defend him, but I can't.

The Senate majority leader, a Democrat from Nevada, demurred when asked if the New Yorker should resign, saying, “I'm not here to defend Weiner.”

Reid was asked what advice he would give Weiner. “Call somebody else,” he told reporters, to laughter.

Porn star to reveal links with Representative Weiner

(Reuters) - A porn star who says she exchanged text messages with embattled Representative Anthony Weiner plans to speak out publicly on Wednesday for the first time since the scandal broke.

Ginger Lee and her celebrity attorney, Gloria Allred, are scheduled to hold a news conference in Manhattan.

Lee, described as a "feature dancer" in the announcement, will explain how her relationship began with the Democratic lawmaker from New York, what Weiner asked of her when the scandal became a problem, and whether or not she still supports him, Allred said in a statement.

Allred will discuss the next step for Lee, she said.

Celebrity news site TMZ reported that Allred told the website on Wednesday morning that, "Ms. Lee has asked me to issue this statement, because an individual has threatened her with a release of another statement which purports to be from her, but which she has not authorized."

Allred would not say who the individual is or what the nature of the threat was, but said, "Ginger would like it to be known that she has not authorized any person, except me, her attorney, to issue statements on her behalf," TMZ reported.

Lee said that Weiner contacted her in March after she began following him on Twitter.

Allred said that several times Weiner tried to take the conversation to another level, always referencing his "package." Lee and the congressman spoke on the phone once, Allred said, when he gave her advice a couple weeks ago on how to handle the crush of media inquiries.

Lee said it was on Thursday, June 2, that Weiner called her and told her to avoid the media.

"He asked me to lie" at the beginning of the scandal, Lee said. "I refused to lie, so I went into hiding."

Anthony Weiner was spotted with wife Huma Abedin this week, as the pair shared an awkward lunch in Chelsea.

But don't expect to see the disgraced politician and his pregnant better half together again any time soon, a source tells The New York Post: Weiner is headed for rehab, while Abedin is headed anywhere anywhere her husband is not.

"She is definitely taking time off away from her husband and chilling," an insider said. "And he's going some place for at least a couple of weeks."

That place is reportedly an "intensive" program to deal with the issues of being... a horny, deceitful moron. Abedin will remain at an undisclosed location while Weiner is treated for this Tiger Woods syndrome.

I have sympathy for what she must be going through.  And I would not doubt that her desire for more seclusion is to determine if she intends to continue to remain married to such a man as her husband.  He can receive all the therapy he can withstand, and it will not change him.

You cannot remove the stripes from a tiger any more than the spots from a leopard.  Her husband is a degenerate, and a player, with no scruples whatsoever.  He has a pregnant wife and he is running around soliciting himself while very much in the public eye.  He is not so much sick and more the idiot.  A public figure behaving as he does only reinforces my mindset that these people elected to public office MUST BE SUBJECTED TO TERM LIMITS, for they get it in their head that they have absolute power and answer to no one, not their constituents, and in Weiner's case, not even to his own wife.

She will wait until the baby is born, and he has established himself in some occupation, and then she will divorce him.  If anything, she is a victim to this degenerate.
