Family booted from baseball game for breaking ?unknown? rulhttp://kfor.com/2016/04/14/family-booted-from-baseball-game-for-breaking-unknown-rule/DENVER ? A Colorado man says he was kicked out of a baseball game after he tossed a home run ball back onto the field.
Brandon Sanchez told KDVR that he, his wife and stepsons were enjoying the Colorado Rockies-San Francisco Giants game Tuesday night when the Giants hit a home run.
The home run ball landed in Sanchez's hands.
Although his stepsons were excited, Sanchez said he couldn't care less.
?I threw the ball back just because it was San Francisco?s home run and I wanted the Story home run ball,? he said, referring to Rockies rookie shortstop Trevor Story. Me thinks it is against the rules to toss things on the field....unless you are in Wrigley field.

Phils' Velasquez K's 16 in 3-hit shutoutPHILADELPHIA -- Vince Velasquez's friends in California started to call him "Vinny from Philly" the moment the Phillies acquired him in December.
Phillies fans will treat Velasquez as one of their own if he keeps pitching like he did Thursday afternoon in a 3-0 victory over the Padres at Citizens Bank Park. Velasquez, 23, allowed three hits and struck out a career-high 16 in nine scoreless innings. He has struck out 25 in 15 scoreless innings in the first two starts of his Phillies career. http://m.mlb.com/news/How is a 3hit game a shutout? Explain to me please. Oh it is the Padres...they are horrible this year.

David Ortiz showed off his 40-year-old wheels and stole a base for the first time since 2013http://m.mlb.com/cutfour/2016/04/15/172556348David Ortiz is many things. He's a crusher of dingers, a bringer of quotes and a mythic legend living in modern times.
What he's not is fleet of foot. And while the slugger has stolen 15 bases in his big league career, he hadn't swiped one since 2013 (when he shockingly stole a career-high four bases).
But at age 40, Ortiz made sure that he wouldn't see a goose egg in the "SB" column of his final season stat line. In the bottom of the seventh of Friday's game against the Blue Jays, the Red Sox holding a slim 5-3 lead, Ortiz got a great jump and surprised the defense.

King Felix ties Big Unit atop Mariners' K listhttp://m.mlb.com/news/article/172708658/felix-hernandez-ties-mariners-strikeout-record NEW YORK -- Felix Hernandez tied Hall of Famer Randy Johnson on the Mariners' all-time strikeout list on Saturday, notching his 2,162nd career punchout when he got shortstop Didi Gregorius looking for the final out of the fifth inning at Yankee Stadium.
The 30-year-old ace came into the day four shy of tying Johnson's franchise mark, and he reached that mark on his 106th and final pitch of a game in which he also tied his own career single-game high of six walks before turning a 3-1 lead over to the bullpen.
Johnson notched his 2,162 strikeouts in 1,838 1/3 innings over 274 games during 10 seasons in Seattle from 1989-1998. He finished his 22-year career ranked No. 2 on MLB's all-time strikeout list with 4,875, trailing only the 5,714 of Nolan Ryan.
Hernandez is just beginning his 12th season with the Mariners, and now has 2,162 strikeouts in 2,280 1/3 innings over 337 starts. He ranks third among active MLB pitchers in strikeouts, behind CC Sabathia (2,582) and Bartolo Colon (2,250). Sabathia started the game for the Yankees and had five strikeouts before being replaced after 4 2/3 innings after giving up

Sox play annual Patriots Day gamePatriots Day has long meant two things to Bostonians: a Red Sox game and the Boston Marathon.
Monday is that day, with the Red Sox and Orioles commencing the finale of this four-game series in the late morning. Yes, an 11:05 a.m. ET first pitch is not typically in the vocabulary of a Major League baseball player.
The game can be seen live on MLB.TV.
"I played a 10 o'clock game in 'A' ball about seven years ago or something. There were like 3,000 elementary students. They bussed in for it. It will be a lot like that, I guess," said left fielder Jason Bay.
The big difference, of course, is that Fenway will be packed to capacity yet again. And if the game is played at a normal pace, fans should exit the ballpark at around the time the marathoners are passing through Kenmore Square. An enduring tradition. At the moment, Boston has a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd. Weather looks good for them up there today.
