Starting weeks before Islamic militants attacked the U.S. diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya, longtime Clinton family confidante Sidney Blumenthal supplied intelligence to then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gathered by  a secret network that included a former CIA clandestine service officer, according to hacked emails from Blumenthal?s account.

The emails, which were posted on the internet in 2013, also show that Blumenthal and another close Clinton associate discussed contracting with a retired Army special operations commander to put operatives on the ground near the Libya-Tunisia border while Libya?s civil war raged in 2011.

Blumenthal?s emails to Clinton, which were directed to her private email account, include at least a dozen detailed reports on events on the deteriorating political and security climate in Libya as well as events in other nations. They came to light after a hacker broke into Blumenthal?s account and have taken on new significance in light of the disclosure that she conducted State Department and personal business exclusively over an email server that she controlled and kept secret from State Department officials and which only recently was discovered by congressional investigators.

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform recently heard new information that could blow the lid off of the Hillary Clinton private email server scandal and shed new light on a consulting job Huma Abedin held while working as Clinton?s aide at the State Department.

The Daily Caller learned of a three-hour May 1 meeting two State Department whistleblowers held with the general counsel and staffers for the Oversight Committee, which is led by Utah Republican Jason Chaffetz.

According to a copy of notes from that meeting, State Department whistleblower Richard Higbie and another whistleblower told of an inspector-turned-whistleblower with State?s office of the inspector general who claims his investigation into Abedin?s work with Teneo Holdings, a consulting firm, led to the discovery of Clinton?s private email server.

WASHINGTON ? Two inspectors general have asked the Justice Department to open a criminal investigation into whether sensitive government information was mishandled in connection with the personal email account Hillary Rodham Clinton used as secretary of state, senior government officials said Thursday.

The request follows an assessment in a June 29 memo by the inspectors general for the State Department and the intelligence agencies that Mrs. Clinton's private account contained "hundreds of potentially classified emails." The memo was written to Patrick F. Kennedy, the under secretary of state for management.

It is not clear if any of the information in the emails was marked as classified by the State Department when Mrs. Clinton sent or received them.

A reported two-month gap in emails from Hillary Clinton's private account during 2012 coincides with a period of escalating violence in Libya and the obtaining of a special exemption by her top aide, Huma Abedin, to work for both the State Department and the Clinton Foundation.

The Daily Beast reported late Tuesday that no emails between Clinton and her State Department staff for the months of May and June 2012 are among the estimated 2,000 messages that have been released from the Democratic presidential frontrunner's account.

A State Department spokesman told The Daily Beast that only emails related to the security of U.S. diplomats in Libya or the consulate in Benghazi were turned over to the House select committee investigating the deadly Sept. 11, 2012 attack. If true, that means neither Clinton nor her staff communicated via e-mail during a period that saw three attacks on international outposts in Benghazi

The classified emails stored on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton?s private server contained information from five U.S. intelligence agencies and included material related to the fatal 2012 Benghazi attacks, McClatchy has learned.

Of the five classified emails, the one known to be connected to Benghazi was among 296 emails made public in May by the State Department. Intelligence community officials have determined it was improperly released.

Revelations about the emails have put Clinton in the crosshairs of a broadening inquiry into whether she or her aides mishandled classified information when she used a private server set up at her New York home to conduct official State Department business.

Judicial Watch announced today that Secretary of State John Kerry asked a court to delay by nearly 40 days his obligation to answer a Judicial Watch lawsuit that seeks to force Kerry to take steps to ?recover emails of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton? and other U.S. Department of State employees (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. John F. Kerry (No. 1:15-cv-00785)). Judicial Watch filed the lawsuit on May 28, and the State Department is obligated to answer the complaint on August 7, but the State Department is seeking an extraordinary 38 more days to answer the complaint.

Judicial Watch notes in its opposition to the delay that Kerry has already had 60 days to respond to the Judicial Watch lawsuit.  Judicial Watch notes that the concerns about unsecured classified information on Clinton?s email system increases the urgency of the issue:

    This case involves the removal and ongoing failure to recover agency records.  Nearly every day brings new, startling revelations of possible destruction of these records and Defendant?s continuing failure to recover them.  See Exh. B (Michael S. Schmidt, No Copies of Clinton Emails, Lawyer Says, N.Y. Times, July 24, 2015).  Even more disturbing, many of which apparently contain classified information.  See Exh. C (Michael S. Schmidt and Matt Apuzzo, Hillary Clinton Emails Said to Contain Classified Data, N.Y. Times, July 24, 2015).  While Defendant would like 98 days to fashion a response to the Complaint, time is of the essence in taking action to recover these records.

Kerry argues to delay the lawsuit by consolidating it with a case brought by Cause of Action Institute.  The Cause of Action lawsuit argues the same legal theory as Judicial Watch?s lawsuit, was filed nearly six weeks after Judicial Watch filed its complaint, and raises no new legal issues that require 38 days of legal work.

Judicial Watch attorneys note to the Court that if the two lawsuits against Kerry are so similar that they require consolidation, then Secretary should be able to respond to both complaints next week.  Consolidating two or more lawsuits is supposed to be used ?avoid unnecessary cost or delay? under federal court rules.

The FBI has begun investigating the security of Hillary Clinton's private e-mail server, an attorney for the Democratic presidential front-runner confirmed to Fox News late Tuesday.

The probe, which was first reported by The Washington Post, comes days after watchdogs from the State Department and the intelligence community asked the Justice Department to explore whether classified material was improperly shared or stored on the former secretary of state's private e-mail account.

The Post first reported the FBI contacted Clinton attorney David Kendall about the security of a thumb drive he possesses that contain copies of work emails sent by Clinton during her time as America's top diplomat. The paper also reported that the FBI had contacted a Denver-based technology firm that helped manage the server.

"Quite predictably, after the [intelligence community's inspector general] made a referral to ensure that materials remain properly stored, the government is seeking assurance about the storage of those materials," Kendall told Fox News. "We are

Certainly, the FBI knew years ago that Clinton was using her own server.  This should have been addressed within the first year she was Secretary of State.  That was 2009!
