Quote
The Senate passed a $1.1 trillion spending bill late Saturday that funds the government through next September, averting a partial government shutdown and sending the measure to President Obama's desk.

The Senate voted 56-40 for the long-term funding bill, the main item left on Congress' year-end agenda. The measure provides money for nearly the entire government through the end of the current budget year Sept. 30. The sole exception is the Department of Homeland Security, which is funded only until Feb. 27.

Hours earlier, the Senate had approved a short-term bill funding the federal government through Wednesday night, easing concerns of a potential partial government shutdown. The stopgap bill, which passed by a voice vote, bought lawmakers more time to comb through the separate $1.1 trillion long-term funding bill.

The republican leadership is obviously afraid of many things;  two of them are obviously government shutdowns and pissing off Hispanics.

History has shown that the Democommies use a government shutdown as a beating stick, and the dumb masses buy it, so it is NOT a means to an end.

The Republicans do need to become more pro-active, and with the majority in both houses, should be able to do that.  However, there is no guarantee they will be successful because they have such mediocre leadership.  If the GOP was worth a good BM, they would make the T-baller President look just like the chump he is.  Yet, he has bested them so far.  Pathetic!

Equally pathetic is when a dictator, namely Putin, makes Obama look globally lie the chump he is as well.  Obama is destroying the brand of the USA, and the Congressional leadership on both sides of the aisle stand there with their tool in their hands.
