MADISON, Wis. – A state Capitol thrown into chaos swelled for a fifth day with thousands of protesters, as supporters of Republican efforts to scrap the union rights of state workers added their voices to the debate for the first time and GOP leaders insisted again Saturday there was no room for compromise.

Supporters of Gov. Scott Walker and his effort to ease Wisconsin's budget woes gathered on the east side of the Capitol, surrounded by a much larger group of pro-labor demonstrators who since Tuesday have filled the Capitol with chanting, drum-beats and anti-Walker slogans. Walker has proposed requiring government workers to contribute more to their health care and pension costs and largely eliminating their collective bargaining rights.

Saturday's line-up included a rally organized by Tea Party Patriots, the movement's largest umbrella group, and Americans for Prosperity. Their supporters carried signs with a fresh set of messages: "Your Gravy Train Is Over . . . Welcome to the Recession" and "Sorry, we're late Scott. We work for a living."

Fake doctors' notes being handed out at rallies

[Madison, WI] As tens of thousands of public employees skipped work this week to attend protest rallies outside the Wisconsin State Capitol, many wondered if they would face any disciplinary action for unexcused absences.
On Saturday, a group of men and women in lab coats purporting to be doctors were handing out medical excuse notes, without examining the ‘patients.’

“I asked this doctor what he was doing and he told me they were handing out excuses to people who were feeling sick due to emotional, mental or financial distress,” said Christian Hartsock. “They never performed an exam–he asked me how I was feeling today and I said I’m from California and I’m not used to the cold, so he handed me a note.”

(That is basically how to get a medical pot card in Kalipornia too)

HORRIBLE. All this story is. All they are asking of the Unions is to pay something like 12% more for health care and put money for pensions. THEY WILL STILL HAVE THOSE HUGE SALARY's. Our White House is knee deep in provoking  this. This is a state issue. So was Arizona. Yeah they want to stop collective bargaining. That is what this is all about. Taking away power from the unions. This needs to be done. Shut down Unions period.

The Educrats are bussing in picketers from out of state and their websites are giving away the home addresses of the GOP legislators.

Let us remember Lara Logan, that when mobs go wild, women get raped. I'm not sure what happens when the mob is made of women but I don't think we want to know. :Smiley

Another reason to ban unions, to prevent mob gang rapes!

Quote
“On Thursday, legislators were advised to return to their offices and lock their doors. Mobs roamed the halls, banging on the glass of the doors, pounding on the walls. No one could move in the halls or enter or leave the building. The glass of the Supreme Court’s entrance was broken. Legislators were genuinely afraid. Our elected representatives were afraid. In our Capitol.”

An out of state colleague asked me what it was like here. I thought maybe some of my other friends would like to know, too.

It is wild.

My personal feelings have been of incredulity and anger that our political process has been stopped by a mob. It is absolutely shocking.

For those of you curious about other viewpoints from the regular press reports, I recommend the MacIver Institute's website,  and Media Trackers. org. and WisconsinEye.  Also don't miss the coverage by Wisconsin Reporter.com  Their tweets have been the best coverage of the events. Eyewitness history. #wisconsinreport

The tea party plans to rally in support of Governor Walker. I don't know what kind of numbers they can amass, but frankly, I doubt they can come close to busloads of union thugs being shipped in from all over the country. Last night one Senator told me they had been told to clear the Capitol because the new groups coming in overnight are filled with with people "who aren't afraid to be arrested" and the Administration could not guarantee the safety of the legislators and their staffs. In our Capitol.

These people are trying to overthrow the state government, invading the capitol, breaking windows and doors.

If 20 grannies with TEA party signs were holding them up at Obama's passing motorcade, the town would have the SWAT team watching them.

I am following WI news sites, and the coverage is almost ridiculously skewed.  union supporters are all dressed very nicely with well thought out, professionally lettered signs.  the supporters of gov walker, and especially the tea partiers, all look like they are on a 5 day meth binge, and made their signs out of refrigerator boxes and shoe polish.

I have a few friends from madison.  it's a fever pit of liberalism (yes, including them  Cheesy ).  I'm actually surprised the crowds aren't bigger.

I didn't really mean to make a joke out of it.  of course, that guy needs his a$$ kicked.  if a tea partier was parading around with a sign advocating gang rape, it would be another "sarah palin shot gabby giffords" level nationwide media obsession.

You better believe it. CBS News would be especially outraged. A lot more outraged than they seem to be about the actual attack on Lara Logan.

odd how that worked out, wasn't it?  either they didn't want to make a big deal out of it for her sake, or they didn't want to call the muslim perps the horny, sex starved, american chick obsessed closet masturbaters that they are.

No arrests, no major incidents reported from Madison

Madison - For Madison police, the quietest place Saturday was at a processing center set up to deal with people facing arrest as tea party activists and labor demonstrators held competing rallies at the state Capitol.

Not only were there no arrests, but no major incidents were reported said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.

"If the eyes of the nation and the world are truly upon us then I think we've been able to show that democracy can work well even if those who have passionate views on different sides come together," in competing rallies, DeSpain said.

"It was the best-case scenario," he added. "We're through the thick of things, past the time the tea party was permitted on the Capitol Square."
