Air France stewardesses, furious at being ordered to wear headscarves in Tehran, say they will refuse to fly to the Iranian capital when the airline resumes the service later this month.

Female members of flight crews have been ordered to cover their hair once they disembark in Tehran and unions are demanding that the flights be made voluntary for women.

The resumption of a thrice-weekly service between Paris and Tehran, planned for April 17 after an eight-year break, follows a thaw in relations since Iran agreed to dismantle large sections of its nuclear programme.

Iranian women have been forced by law to cover their hair or face stiff fines since the 1979 Islamic revolution. In staunchly secular France, however, public signs of religion have been frowned upon since a 1905 law separating church and state.

French women see Islamic headscarves and veils as an affront to their dignity. Headscarves are banned in French state schools and offices, and it is illegal to wear the full-face Muslim veil in public.

Flore Arrighi, head of the UNAC flight crews? union, said: ?It is not our role to pass judgement on the wearing of headscarves or veils in Iran. What we are denouncing is that it is being made compulsory. Stewardesses must be given the right to refuse these flights.?

She added that female staff were entitled to exercise ?individual freedoms?.

Good, the more individual Europeans push back, the slower the conquest.

The rebellion spreads:

A steward from Air France has launched an online appeal against gay cabin members having to travel to Iran. It's titled: "Gay stewards from Air France don't want to fly to the death penalty in Iran".

"Sure, our sexuality isn't written on our passports and it doesn't change the way we work as a crew," wrote 'Laurent M' in an open letter to the French government and the CEO of Air France Fr?d?ric Gagey.

"But it is inconceivable to force someone to go to a country where his kind are condemned for who they are."

The letter points out that homosexuality in Iran is illegal and comes with a penalty of 74 lashes for a minor, while adults can be given the death penalty.

A petition on site Change.org which calls for gay stewards not to work on the soon to re-open Paris to Tehran route has gained almost 2,000 signatures in the past few days.

Well, yeah, things are obviously not real good for the homos in Iran, but you would think these people would be more upset by the doings in Mississippi and North Carolina like Bruce Springsteen and other such sensitive creatures are.

Push back in Europe?  I missed that.  A bunch of flight attendants object to flying to the oppressive country of Iran, who can blame them?  Opening the gates to Iran is like inviting a tiger into a pig farm, and expecting him to play nicely with the little piggies.  Get real!  Iran is one of two primary countries fostering terror throughout the world, the other being Saudi Arabia.  Neither country is a true friend to the western world.

The recent revelation about Saudi Arabia in regard to their role in 9/11 is just the beginning of the unraveling of the truth, which has been covered up for 15 years.

'Outside the Bedroom, Women Must Wear a Scarf'

Quote
The Islamist mullahs of Iran are meticulously spreading their Sharia laws to other countries and cultures through various methods.

If they cannot conquer the world with their military and convert everyone to their radical version of Islam, they will do it in other shrewd ways.

The Islamic Republic succeeded in forcing Air France, with the silent compliance of the socialist French government, to force its women flight attendants to comply with Iran?s Sharia law, including wearing a scarf, long trousers (instead of skirts), and wide garments (to hide the shape of their bodies) even though these women would not set foot in Iran and even if they are only in a layover and would not set foot outside the plane. Once they leave France, the female flight attendants have to comply with the dress code of Iran. They are not even allowed to smoke, even though the French men are allowed too.

Air France has told its stewardesses that: ?Outside the bedroom, women must wear a scarf and a wide and long garment to conceal their shapes.?

As the pressure against such policy is mounting in France, Air France has agreed to give the female air hostesses and pilots the choice to opt out of flights to the Islamic Republic.

Nevertheless, Air France officials pointed out that they would not change their current policy at this moment. What Air France is failing to recognize is that it is basically following the Islamic Republic?s Sharia and Islamist law that views women as non-human, objects created to only satisfy men in bed.

Air France's decision and the acquiescence of the French government pose a significant danger to principles of democracy. The Islamist state of Iran, and other Islamist countries and militia groups, view this act as a victory for Islam and spread of Islamism.

Once you give them an inch, they want a mile. Concessions mean weakness for them.

Iranian leaders are already emboldened. They are asking all Western countries to remove un-Islamic things, such as wine, statues, posters which depict women without their hair covered, etc, when Iranian politicians visit their country. France previously accepted such Islamist requests by eliminating wine and other un-Islamic objects at the arrival of Iranian mullahs in Paris.
