The White House has nominated another candidate for the top diplomatic post in Iraq after their previous nominee withdrew amid a sex scandal.

In a Monday statement, the Obama administration nominated Robert Stephen Beecroft as their choice for U.S. ambassador to Iraq — a crucial diplomatic post in a country transitioning out of a long war and ensuing sectarian conflict.

The administration's previous nominee Brett McGurk was forced to withdraw after risqué emails between him and a Wall Street Journal reporter (who he later married) surfaced online.
