 I was in elementary school when Alaska and Hawaii were annexed to the Union. There never was a fair vote in Alaska to see if the People wanted to join the Union. I don't think there was a fair vote in Hawaii either. But, the Seminoles didn't get asked either.

hawaii was a US territory, so I assume the locals had some control of their destiny.  we just flat out bought alaska.  then we introduced the eskimos to fire water.
