NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) ? The Federal Aviation Administration has notified all United States airlines that flights to Tel Aviv?s Ben Gurion International Airport are prohibited for the next 24 hours.

The move follows a rocket landing near the airport.

The FAA issued a NOTAM, or Notice to Airman, barring the flights just after noon on Tuesday.

?The notice was issued in response to a rocket strike which landed approximately one mile from Ben Gurion International Airport on the morning of July 22, 2014. The NOTAM applies only to U.S. operators, and has no authority over foreign airlines operating to or from the airport,? the FAA said in a statement. ?The FAA will continue to monitor and evaluate the situation. Updated instructions will be provided to U.S. airlines as soon as conditions permit.?

After John F'n Kerry flew in and Bloomberg flew in, Israel said they might open an old airport in the south of the country to international flights and Sen Cruz began threatening to put a hold on nominees until the FAA provides answers...

the flight restrictions were lifted.

It was all politics from the start.
