there is no virtually middle ground on the interrogation investigation.  the interrogators are either patriots to be thanked, or criminals to be prosecuted.  if there are any undecideds on this issue, they are more than likely to wonder why we are investigating people that roughed up terrorist leaders that killed thousands of americans.

Cheney Statement on CIA Documents/Investigation

Former Vice President Dick Cheney gave The Weekly Standard a statement Monday night about the CIA documents and the coming Justice Department investigation.

The documents released Monday clearly demonstrate that the individuals subjected to Enhanced Interrogation Techniques provided the bulk of intelligence we gained about al Qaeda. This intelligence saved lives and prevented terrorist attacks. These detainees also, according to the documents, played a role in nearly every capture of al Qaeda members and associates since 2002. The activities of the CIA in carrying out the policies of the Bush Administration were directly responsible for defeating all efforts by al Qaeda to launch further mass casualty attacks against the United States. The people involved deserve our gratitude. They do not deserve to be the targets of political investigations or prosecutions. President Obama’s decision to allow the Justice Department to investigate and possibly prosecute CIA personnel, and his decision to remove authority for interrogation from the CIA to the White House, serves as a reminder, if any were needed, of why so many Americans have doubts about this Administration’s ability to be responsible for our nation’s security.

robert gibbs is someone else that needs to go.  he's not doing the president any good at all.  in fact, every time he opens his mouth, it's another torpedo in the side of the administration.

he only seems to have a few answers to any even semi-difficult question - (a) "we won the election, not them", (b) "we said what we didn't say when we didn't say what we said, and we have always said that",  and (c) "**** you, I'm not answering that question".

and it was the juvenile obama team that couldn't stop blaming everything that came up on george bush.  it was childish, unpresidential, and ultimately self-obsessed.

White House Fires Back After Cheney Calls CIA Probe 'Political'
White House Press Secretary Roberts Gibbs broadly dismisses former Vice President Dick Cheney's comments on "FOX News Sunday" as typical and unfounded.

The White House on Monday fired back after former Vice President Dick Cheney called the Obama administration's decision to open a probe into alleged CIA abuses an "outrageous political act."

White House Press Secretary Roberts Gibbs broadly dismissed Cheney's comments on "FOX News Sunday" as typical and unfounded.

"This is the same song and dance we've heard since literally the first day of our administration," Gibbs said. "The vice president ... clearly had his facts on a number of things wrong."

Gibbs did not call out Cheney on specific misstatements, but suggested the former vice president's criticism about a newly formed unit responsible for interrogating high-value detainees was off base. After Cheney ridiculed the unit, Gibbs said it would have participants from several law enforcement agencies and dismissed the notion that the White House would be making interrogation decisions.

"I'm not entirely sure that Dick Cheney's predictions on foreign policy have borne a whole lot of fruit over the last eight years in a way that has been either positive or, to the best of my recollection, very correct," Gibbs told reporters.

this isn't related to the subject of the thread, but robert gibbs is on a stupidity roll today.

schumer is advocating pushing health care through via reconciliation.  doddering harry reid says republicans are "evil".  pelosi say they are nazis . . . and this is the white house response?

save scott mclellan, has there ever been a more clueless white house press secretary?

Gibbs Says Republicans Walking Away From Health Talks
Aug. 31 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama’s spokesman said congressional Republicans are “stepping away” from attempts to reach a bipartisan agreement on overhauling the U.S. health-care system, Obama’s top legislative priority.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Republican lawmakers are repeating political attacks and “untrue allegations” about health-care proposals being advanced in Congress rather than negotiating and offering alternatives.

He cited criticism of Democratic proposals made by Senator Mike Enzi of Wyoming in the weekly Republican radio address on Aug. 29 that the Obama-backed health-care proposals would raise costs and widen the deficit.

“I think Senator Enzi’s clearly turned over his cards on bipartisanship and decided that it’s time to walk away from the table,” Gibbs said today at a White House briefing.
