this is a pleasant surprise, but doesn't sound right.  how does this square with holder's previous opinion that the congressional funding revocation didn't apply to future payments under existing arrangements?

Justice Department Asks Court Not To Lift ACORN Funding Ban

Washington, D.C., United States (AHN) - The Justice Department has filed court papers asking for the reversal of a ruling last week that said the ban against federal funding for ACORN was unconstitutional. The embattled organization sued the government last month. The Government Accountability Office said on Friday it would investigate the group's use of public funds.

The government's lawyers are asking the courts to reconsider a preliminary injunction issued by U.S. District Judge Nina Gershon last Friday. A hearing has been set for Dec. 22 on the motion.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), who led efforts on Capitol Hill to defund ACORN, praised the Justice Department for "upholding the bipartisan will of Congress."
