Post by: JohnBrowdie on December 18, 2009, 06:09:05 AM
the president is rushing in to save the day (or not) again.  I honestly wonder if the obamites remember that there is a recession back here at home.

Obama, in Copenhagen, holds emergency meetings to save climate talks

COPENHAGEN -- President Obama arrived here Friday and promptly tore up his schedule, holding emergency meetings with world leaders in an uphill attempt to seal a last-minute climate change deal on the final day of the global climate-change summit.

The private sit-down with 17 other heads of government, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and a representative from the Chinese government dragged on past the time that the morning plenary session of the 193-nation, U.N.-sponsored talks was to have begun.

But according to a U.S. official with knowledge of the discussions, the prospect of a robust agreement remained in jeopardy, with State Department officials suggesting leaders may be left with just a short, general document as Copenhagen's final outcome.

"Different people are floating different drafts," on administration official said.

the president is giving yet another preachy little speech on european soil.  this one seems to have a "take it or leave it" tone to it.  I wonder which one the chinese will take.

I get the sense that the administration is willing to take anything and claim victory.

Obama later met with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao for almost an hour and “made progress,” according to a White House official, who added that the meeting was “constructive.”

this is actually funny.  they agreed to not allow temperatures to rise more than two degrees.  next, they will agree to turn the sun off.

It set a target of limiting global warming to a maximum 2 degrees Celsius over pre-industrial times -- seen as a threshold for dangerous changes such as more floods, droughts, mudslides, sandstorms and rising seas. But it failed to say how this would be achieved.

I am dissatisfied with the shade of blue of the sky.  I think it should be deeper blue.  he needs to get right on that as soon as he turns the thermostat down.
