of course the pakistanis are wary. the speech had more to do with getting out than winning. what happens when the american armed forces pull out? add to that the president's stated position as a candidate that he would unilaterally bomb pakistan if there was evidence that there were AQ targets on pakistani soil, and you have a perfectly valid reason for wariness.

Obama's long-awaited speech at West Point was broadcast live on TV here just after dawn, but the Pakistani Foreign Affairs Ministry waited nearly 12 hours to issue a cautious response that stressed the "need for clarity" in the new U.S. policy and sought to "ensure that there would be no adverse fallout on Pakistan."
