TV Ratings Thursday: 'American Idol' Rises, Dominates Repeats; 'Rules Of Engagement' Slips

Against almost a complete slate of repeats on broadcast television, American Idol dominated the ratings Thursday night.

American Idol’s 8.1 adults 18-49 rating was up 13% vs. last Thursday. That was also up 29% vs. the comparable telecast last season (3/11/10, 6.3 A18-49 rating). Fox also had the highest rated non-sports Thursday night on broadcast TV since 3/8/07.

I have my favorites, I still do not know the names. I will also say I will watch as long as it is good.

'Idol' finalists revel in the afterglow of Thursday's show

USA TODAY's Bill Keveney caught up with the Top 13American Idol contestants at a party held on the roof of a parking garage after Thursday's elimination show. Here are some random quotes from the singers, with more to come next week.

The lucky 13 (back row): Lauren Alaina, left, Thia Megia, Haley Reinhart, Jacob Lusk, Karen Rodriguez, Scotty McCreery, Naima Adedapo, Pia Toscano, Ashthon Jones. Front row: Casey Abrams, Paul McDonald, James Durbin, and Stefano Langone.

Pia and Jacob I feel are the best singers so far.

Watching Stephen Tyler drool all over 15 year old girls in Sin City is disgusting.

Bringing them to Hollywood to make them stars was one thing, bringing them to Sin City to... turn them into lounge acts? Hey, why not forget the Ford and Coca-Cola commercials and just have them strip for Playboy in the semi-finals?

who cares?

Dancing with the Porn Stars is coming up next on ABC!

The show last night was very enjoyable for me. I will say right off I WAS not a Idol fan. Last year was terrible. I did not watch most of the previous seasons.  The kid who did the Paul Mcartyny song was great .  The little blond who did the Lee Ann Rimees song was spot on. I had liked Pia but she for me did a wrong song choice.  Paul I think his name is with the nice smile and white teeth is in trouble, the kid that did the Garth Brooks song is really good! Scotty McCreery.

So to recap.. I have 4 favorites at this time... Scotty,  Karen, Haley and James I think I have the names correct.

I watched two episodes last weekend that my friend had DVRed.  I'd never seen the show before.  I'm at school during the week in the evenings, so I don't watch a lot of "regular" tv.
