Firefighters in California battling a wildfire north of Yosemite National Park are calling it a "very difficult firefight," as they expect high winds to fuel the blaze's momentum.
"This fire has continued to pose every challenge that there can be on a fire: inaccessible terrain, strong winds, dry conditions," said Daniel Berlant of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
With winds gusting to 50 mph on Sierra mountain ridges and flames jumping from treetop to treetop, hundreds of firefighters have been deployed to protect this and other communities in the path of the Rim Fire.
