Sgt. Todd Eby tells the Detroit Free Press that he was sitting at his desk at the precinct on the city's northwest side when the gunman walked in at about 4:20 p.m. on Sunday with a pistol grip shotgun and opened fire.
Eby says officers returned fire, killing the man. The conditions of the officers were not immediately known.

yikes. I sincerely hope the cops recover.
and I wonder if this will be another two week long national media obsession . . . it probably deserves more coverage than the Az shooting, because it concerns cops, first of all. but also, it is emblematic of the catastrophe that is called detroit. and THAT, in turn, is emblematic of the bankruptcy of liberalism.
but unless the shooter had a sarah palin bumper sticker on his car, the MSM will pretty much ignore this.

The most seriously injured officer -- he was shot in the lower back -- emerged from surgery Sunday evening, Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee said.
A person who police identified as the shooter was shot dead, Godbee said at a Sunday evening press conference.
In addition to the officer shot in the back, who is a commander, Godbee said a female sergeant was shot in the chest but was protected by a bulletproof vest. Two male officers were grazed in the head but are conscious, alert and talking, he said.
"We are very relieved that it appears that all our officers are going to be OK," Godbee said.

this story never hit the national radar because the back story was, "detroit is representative of the collapse of liberalism". the only reason the AZ shooting set off a national obsession is because it allowed the MSM to pillage and plunder the female republicans (believe it: liberals are secret misogynists) and tea partiers. it had nothing to do with the people that were killed. it was 100% self indulgence.

The story made Drudge, while it might not be considered MSM, it's without a doubt a national radar clearinghouse of news stories. Actually, upon a quick check, it made CNN as well. |

my point is that (a) it wasn't a national, hand-wringing, forehead mopping obsession that lasted two weeks, and (b) the difference in back stories is the reason.

...and the punk child-rapists former home was fire bombed to smoldering ash last night. If there's one exceptional skill possessed by Detroit, it's that they really know how to perfrom arson and have no qualms with vigilante justice or retribution.
